SOLD OUT- Food Photography and Cooking Workshop by Jim Henkens and Renee Erickson

from 725.00

Marine Area 7 is excited to host Capturing Lummi, a two-day cooking and food photography workshop led by Chef Renee Erickson and Photographer Jim Henkens. With beautiful Lummi Island as a backdrop, Renee and Jim will share with students a combined 45 years of experience and expertise in the world of food and photography.

The workshop will be intensive and hands-on. Students will participate in and photograph cooking demonstrations including but not limited to: breaking down a whole salmon and grilling it to perfection, roasting vegetables newly harvested from the garden & preserving lemons- one sure-fire way of adding depth of flavor to a dish. Renee & Jim will reveal what goes in to plating for a photo shoot and how incorporating props and surfaces bring images to the next level. In addition to cooking instruction, students will gain photography skills such as the manipulation of natural light, composition, styling & prop selection as well as post-production know-how using Capture One software.

Renee Erickson is a James Beard award-winning chef/author and co-owner of Eat Sea Creatures Restaurant Group which includes The Walrus and the Carpenter, The Whale Wins, Barnacle, Bar Melusine, Bateau and General Porpoise. In 2014, her first cookbook, A Boat, a Whale and a Walrus was published to critical acclaim. Bon Appetit Magazine compares Renee to M.F.K. Fisher, Elizabeth David and Julia Child.

Jim Henkens is a food and lifestyle photographer and owner of Marine Area 7 in Seattle. His photography for A Boat, a Whale and a Walrus was honored as a finalist at the 2015 IACP awards.
